Surviving the zombie apocalypse is dirty work, so you’ve got to take advantage of hot water and safe spaces when you can. Of course, that means you should have a bath!
In the Dead of the Night
They’ve secured Rika Minami’s apartment and for once have a safe place to recover. While Takashi and Hirano attempt to break into the secure lockers, the girls take a chance to clean up. It might seem a little indulgent, but a hot bath is a great way to unwind and get to know each other a little better.
With the lockers open, Hirano is in heaven and it’s even better than thinking about peeping on the girls. Rika is quite the gun connoisseur and her choices have met with Hirano’s approval. Of course, we also learn that Hirano is a bit of a gun nut and has trained with some pretty hardcore people.
Meanwhile, the rest of the survivors are still trying to cross the bridge, but the zombies have closed in around them and things are getting out of control. The police are shooting zombies and protestors are calling the police murderers and claiming it’s all a hoax. Before long, it gets out of control and no one appears to be safe anymore.
I love this episode, which probably isn’t much of a surprise, but I think it does a great job of contrasting the relative safety of Rika’s apartment and the outside world. It’s great that they are close enough to the bridge to be able to see what’s happening and TV broadcasts are still going on to supplement it.
We also get to see the girls being girls. They’re washing and chatting, Rei can’t believe the size of Shizuku’s boobs and has to give them a squeeze… that’s what normally happens when girls wash together… right? (Don’t spoil the illusion!) Then we get Shizuku who gets a little amorous before falling asleep and Saeko in just an apron and a thong… I think I’m going to need a cold shower at this rate.
Either way, it’s great and I love the way it breaks up the series which has been a lot of running around fighting zombies to this point. We also got to see a little more of the complicated relationship between Takashi and Rei and that moment on the stairs was excellent. She was throwing herself at him, but he still hadn’t forgiven her. You don’t normally get that sort of depth from ecchi shows and I love it.
